We had an amazing visit with Mommasita! We shopped till we dropped each day. One night we ate at Little Dom's, an Italian place down the street from us. I guess it is a Hollywood hot spot because I went there for dinner once before a saw Elijah Wood. Then when we were there with Mommasita we saw Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell from Modern Family!)
My mom and sister flew in town Wednesday morning and I dropped Michelle off at the airport after picking up mom. We went shopping (again..). It was my sister's mission to see a star. They were only in town for one day (mom was there on business). As soon as we walked into The Grove shopping center we saw the rapper Nelly and his entourage. He was there to be interviewed by Mario Lopez for Extra, so we watched the interview from the audience. Then we decided to go back to Little Dom's for dinner since they had not been there before and we saw 2 more stars! Michael Cera (Juno, Superbad) and Jason Lee (My Name is Earl). Ivy was very excited!
Needless to say, I have a lot to catch up on after the visitors and before we leave for Thanksgiving.
Yesterday was the one year anniversary on my cooking blog! I have learned a lot this year, I am not a baker, I can never have enough kitchen gadgets, my husband is not a picky eater..I AM! I really have enjoyed blogging and I plan to continue as long as I have readers. Thanks for coming back.
I got this recipe when I went to a Sysco convention with my boss last month. They were selling Butternut Squash Ravioli and it was served with this sauce. It was so yummy, I was glad they were handing our the recipe!
Butternut Squash Ravioli with Creamy Apple Sauce
3 Tb butter
2 Tb flour
1/4 cup green apples diced
3/4 cup apple cider
3/4 cup chicken broth
1/2 Tb dried parsley
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 small packages of butternut squash ravioli
Chop shallots and apples. Measure out the chicken broth and apple cider so that it is ready for sauce.
Melt butter in saucepan and cook shallots for 2 minutes.
Add 2 Tb flour and cook, stirring constantly for 3 minutes.
Stir in broth and cider.
Add cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and pepper.
Cook on a low simmer for 8 minutes.
Stir a few times so the sauce doesn't stick to the bottom.
Add apples and parsley. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
I boiled some chicken to stir into the ravioli for Protein Boy.
Cook ravioli based on the package instructions. Stir into sauce.
Yummy! Such a good autumn meal!
