The Perfect Diner Sandwich (The secret is in the bread)

Yeah Mommasita is coming today. We pick her up from the airport in 1 hour! I spent the last few days preparing. I always find something new to clean! Yesterday I was cleaning my lamp fixture above the kitchen table with a toothbrush... I love the feeling of a clean house!

Everyone knows that the perfect diner sandwich is about the bread. The fillings are important, but they are always second to the bread. Here is how you achieve the cheese crusted crispy, still soft, tasty, greasy bread!

The Perfect Diner Sandwich (Bread)


Sourdough Bread- Trader Joes has the awesome Cracked Wheat Sourdough Bread
Softened Butter or Spreadable butter substitute
Grated Parmesan Cheese (in the green can)
Fillings- Cheese, ham, turkey, chicken, tomatoes, onions, you choose!
Spread butter on one side of the bread.
Shake the parmesan on the butter.

Melt butter in saucepan.
Lay bread cheese side down in the pan.
Layer your toppings. Watch carefully so the bread doesn't burn, cook on medium to medium low.
Top with another piece of bread cheese side up and then carefully turn the sandwich over.
It looks so pretty and tastes so yummy! PS you may want to share a sandwich. J and I could barely eat one half.
