I am going to Thanksgiving this year with Jeffrey's family in Fort Worth. Even though I love his family to death and we always have the best time together, this is my first Thanksgiving away from my family. I actually keep forgetting that I am not going to Odessa. I have had a few people ask if I am going home and I say "yes" then realize a few minutes later, "no I'm not." It is a good thing Christmas is coming up quickly because I am missing my family.
A few days before we leave for Texas, me and my two blondie friends (Meg and Emily) are going to make a Thanksgiving meal and have a dinner party with our hubbies. I am in charge of sweet potato souffle and mashed potatoes. I will be making my mom's sweet potato recipe and my Roasted Garlic Truffle Mashed Potatoes. While we are speaking of Thanksgiving, here are some easy green beans for your Thanksgiving meal.
Sweet and Sour Green Beans
Fresh Green Beans
1/2 Onion Diced
2 slices bacon
2 Tb sugar
2 Tb Apple Cider Vinegar
Salt and Pepper
Heat a cast iron skillet. Add onion and bacon and cook until onions are tender.
Snap the ends off each end of the bean.
Remove bacon and onion from pan, leaving bacon grease in the pan.
Add beans to skillet.
Stir sugar and vinegar in a bowl, until sugar dissolves.
Add bacon and onions back to beans.
Add sugar mix into beans.
Stir fry for a few minutes. Salt and pepper to taste.
