Pasta Bolognese

Happy Valentines Day everyone! My hubby is working tonight so we are going to wait and celebrate our love on Wednesday night. Tonight I will be watching The Bachelor and eating a romantic dinner of steak and potatoes!

A lot of ingredients in this recipe, but this sauce is soooo tasty it is worth it. My mom made it for us over Christmas and I couldn't wait to make it again when I got home. It is really good for a hearty dinner on a cold night.
Pasta Bolognese

2 1/2 links Italian Chicken Sausage (or turkey)
1/2 pound ground beef
1 1/2 Tb olive oil
1/2 onion
2 carrots
3 stalks celery
2 cloves garlic
2 tsp sugar
1/2 cup red wine
14 oz can Italian Stewed Tomatoes
3 Tb tomato paste
1/4 cup basil
1/4 cup parsley
1/2 pound thin spaghetti
salt and pepper

Remove sausage from castings. Add ground beef and sausage to a large stock pan and heat on medium high, stirring often.

Dice carrots, celery and onion.
Add veggies and 1 Tb of olive oil to meat, cook while stirring until tender.
Add red wine to pan. Stir, scraping the brown bits off the bottom of the pan.
Add garlic to pan now. Cook for 2 minutes.
Add sugar, tomato paste, stewed tomatoes and juice to pan.
Stir and cover pan. Simmer on medium low for 10 minutes. (oh and you should start boiling your pasta!)
Chop basil and parsley.
Remove lid and use you spoon to mush up the tomatoes into the sauce.
Add basil and parsley and season with salt and pepper.
Drain pasta and drizzle with olive oil.

Serve pasta with a big helping of sauce and some shavings of parmesan cheese! It looks fantastic right?!?

I like the blog redesign! Also, great recipes lately. My hubby swears he doesn't like pasta this way (meatballs only) but I bet if I make this for him he might change his tune! LOL Thanks for the updates.

Made this tonight for a dinner party. Amazing! So hearty and not too heavy. Delicious! Especially for pleasing the men.
