Steaming Veggies

Saturday night we had a 3Bs girl's night a Megs. It was a late night (8:30) wine and dessert party...always need a theme right? We love any excuse to get together and gab. Here are some photos of our late night gab fest.
Em looking cozy!
Yumm! Ice cream with warm fudgey brownies, can't go wrong!
Sarah's first time in the Bumbo! She is getting so big!
Love the shot of her on the table with our wine...this is classic.
Megs and Sarah. PS Sarah loves to watch dancing, it makes her laugh so hard. This little girl is going to be so much fun!
Isn't this the most precious thing you have ever seen? I love the slipper footies!

As you know my focus is usually on the main course of the meal, followed by a carb. Therefore many times, I am so busy making meat and carbs, that I don't have time or desire to make a veggie or salad. Recently I started taking a shortcut in order to put more veggies in our diet. Steaming in the Microwave! It is so fast and easy. Many of you may think...duh I know how to do that, but I am going to go over it anyway to remind those of you who may not put your focus on veggies either.

Microwave Steamed Green Beans
These are fresh green beans. You can use broccoli, asparagus, califlower, etc. I snapped the ends off the beans then put them in a pyrex dish and filled the bottom with a little bit of water. Cover the dish with plastic wrap.
Heat in the microwave for about 4-5 minutes.
Remove, carefully with pot holders.
Take off the plastic wrap and carefully drain the water, try not to lose the veggies (or you could drain them in a colandar, but that would dirty another dish and you try not to do that when you don't have a dish washer...)
Now you can season the veggies however you like. I put some butter or olive oil, salt, pepper, a squeeze of lemon and Parmesan.
Soooo easy and yummy! If you are wondering what other deliciousness is featured on this plate it is Blue Cheese Butter Steak and Lemon Risotto.
