Cutting Tomatoes Rachel Ray's Way

While I was in home in Odessa last month, I helped my mom cater for the 70's band "Grand Funk Railroad." They were playing a a concert benefiting the Education Foundation of Odessa. Every year she does the catering and craft services for the bands that come to benefit this concert. I can't remember all the bands that have been before but last year was Heart and the year before that was The Steve Miller Band. I am glad I finally got to work this job with her, it was so fun! We made them my Lime Grilled Chicken with Black Bean Sauce recipe. I heard the lead singer tell one of the others that he better try it, "it is one of the best meals we have had on the road." That was very exciting!
I felt rude going "paparazzi" on them, so I didn't get any photos of them backstage. We took these during the concert though.

They can still "Do the Locomotion!"

One day I was watching Rachael Ray and saw her do this amazing shortcut for cutting grape and cherry tomatoes. While we were cooking at the Ranch, my mom and I tried it! We were soooo excited that it worked!
Save 2 plastic lids that you get off to-go containers or like tubs of sour cream. They need to be the exact same size.
Line up your tomatoes on one lid. The tomatoes should be inside the edges of the lid.
Place the other lid down on top of the tomatoes. Carefully slice your knife between the two lids. (lift up your fingers so they don't get sliced!)

Now you have sliced your tomatoes in half!
This is so much more time efficient to do them all at once, I always hate cutting individual baby tomatoes....
