Homemade Chai

I thoroughly love my job a Dream Dinners. Mostly because of the amazing people I work with. We all love to cook, so I get to go to work and talk about one of my passions. Occasionally they send me home with great recipes, for which I am always grateful! My sweet co-worker, Cat, gave me this recipe. She got it when visiting some family who was living in the Ukraine. It is so much better than the Chai mixes you get a the store, and not hard to mix up in the morning!

Homemade Chai Tea Latte

2 cup water
2 tea bags (black)
1 cinnamon stick
6 cardamom seeds
1 whole clove
1/4 tsp ground ginger
2 1/2 cups milk
1/4-1/3 cup of sugar, depending on how sweet you like it
Crush your cardamom seeds. I use a rolling pin the first time, but the second time I used my meat mallet, it was much easier!
Bring to boil the water, tea bags, crushed cardamom, cinnamon stick, clove and ginger.
Boil for 5 minutes then remove from heat.
Strain the tea through a strainer, into a tea pot.
Mix in sugar, stir until it dissolves.
Heat milk, either in microwave or on the stove. Then add to tea pot.
Stir and serve.
Yummy! I think it is a perfect drink to serve your family during the holiday season!!
