Coco Rubbed Steak with Whiskey Bacon Gravy

I love TV. I watch it so much that Jeffrey has decided it is my drug and I need an intervention...or at least some rules/time limits for watching TV. I don't totally disagree with him....but if he is going to make rules for watching TV I am going to make rules for him working all evening, every evening! What else can I do in the evening besides watch TV?? Any suggestions for a new evening hobby?

Coco Rubbed Steak with Whiskey Bacon Gravy
for Steak:
1 8 oz steak, cut in half
1 Tbsp cocoa powder
2 tsp sweet paprika
1/4 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp brown sugar
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp kosher salt
1 Tbsp butter
Mix together seasonings for the rub.
for the sauce
4 strips bacon
1 leek, chopped
1 Tbsp flour
1/2 cup whiskey (I used sherry because we didn't have whiskey on hand)
2 cups chicken broth (the recipe I used said to use 3 cups but that took forever to cook down so I reduced it. Add more if you need it.)
2 bay leaves
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp parsley, chopped
salt and pepper
Cut steak in half, trim fat. Rub steaks with seasoning and allow it to sit for 30 mins.
Cook bacon.
Remove bacon from pan and add leek to bacon drippings. Cook for a few minutes.
Add flour to pan.
Cook for 1 minute.

Add whiskey to pan.
Simmer for about 2 minutes until thickened.
Add chicken broth and bay leaves to the sauce.

Simmer for 8 minutes, or until gravy coats the spoon.
Heat 1 Tbsp of butter in a cast iron skillet.
Add cream to sauce.

Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 7 more minutes.
Add steaks to pan and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side.

Add crumbled bacon and chopped parsley to the sauce.

Serve sauce over the steaks.
