I had a fantastic 27th birthday! I am one lucky girl! I mentioned earlier that the 3Bs and I were going to do a progressive dinner in Pasadena. It was sooo fun! Here are some photos of my blessed day.
Mommasita is the best gift giver! She sent me French macaroons. I am still savoring each one, slowly!
We started off our dinner at the King's Row for cocktails. This drink reminds me of the strawberry lemonade recipe I post on here. It was called a Summer Flight: strawberry puree, cucumber vodka and lemon. A perfect 3B drink!
I brought along some macaroons to share. Dessert first!
Meg and I opened our presents.....
Meg in her new necklace!
Yes, my nickname is Sheliba.... I thought this was a super cute birthday tag.
My new necklace from Em...I am in LOVE!
In Pasadena there are several streets full of awesome restaraunts. We were able to walk to each place. I was the smart one and wore flats. Meg and Em wore heels...well Em wore heels until she couldn't anymore and then I switched her..haha! This is Red White + Bluezz and wine and cheese bar where we had a cheese plate as an appetizer.
This photo didn't turn out well. I LOVE a good cheese platter, yum!
One of my favs from the night.
Meg is the comedian of the group so of course she gave me this card. Entertainment for our night, it was hilarious!
On to our next stop!
When you see a dog statue, you must take a picture with it...
At Cafe Santatorini for a Mediterranean main course.
Yum! We had linguine and clams, chicken kebabs, roasted veggies and pita and hummus.
Our final stop, POP! A champagne and dessert bar.
The chandeliers were gorg!
We have so much fun together!
Dessert 1, a brownie with whiskey caramel sauce and homemade baileys ice cream.
Dessert 2 was my FAV! Peanut butter and chocolate creme brulee with whip cream and berries.
I did celebrate with my husband. We went to brunch the next morning at the Alcove. He wouldn't let me take a picture of him, so there is his arm...haha!
We shared a breakfast panini with mushrooms, eggs, mozzarella, caramelized onions and tomato! I LOVE this sandwich.
I made Basil Lemonade last year. This year I decided to add strawberries and it really is incredible! I have actually been making it all summer, sorry I haven't shared this goodness with you until now!
Strawberry Basil Lemonade
1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 cup sugar, plus 2 more Tbsp
1 cup water, then 5 1/2 cups of water
8 basil leaves
1 pint strawberries
Mix together 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar. Slice basil leaves and chop about 6 strawberries into quarters.
Add strawberries and basil to the sugar solution. Heat in a saucepan over medium heat until just about the boil and water is clear. Then turn off heat and allow it to steam for 5 minutes.
Slice remaining strawberries.
Place strawberries and 2 Tbsp of sugar in a bowl and mush them up with the back of a fork or I used a pastry blender (cutter?). Allow mixture to sit for at least 5 minutes.
Strain sugar solution into a pitcher and toss the basil and strawberries.
Add lemon juice, muddled strawberries and 5 1/2 cups of water to the sugar solution. Stir and chill until ready to serve.
It is so refreshing for a hot day!
