Cheddar Cheese Bread

Woo Hoo I LOVE bread and I LOVE cheese! This recipe is super yummy! Thank you Shutterbean for posting it first.

Cheddar Cheese Bread
3 1/2 cups flour
1 1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
4 Tbsp butter
5 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 3/4 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 400
 Grate cheese
 Mix together dry ingredients
 Cut up 2 Tbsp butter into small pieces. Use your hands or a pastry blender to incorporate the butter into the flour mixture. I used the pastry blender, then I used my hands.

 Pour grated cheese into flour and toss to coat.

 Slowly pour buttermilk into dry ingredients. Stir until incorporated. 

 Divide the dough in half and press into a greased pan. 

 Cut a cross in the dough.
 Press slices of butter into the slits in the bread.
 Bake for 25-30 minutes.
 Allow bread to cool for 30 minutes before removing from pan and slicing.
 Be careful, I ate 1/2 a loaf in 30 minutes!
